Q. Do you recycle in my area?
A. Please visit ARCA service territories to find out where our recycling services are offered.
Q. Do you pick up appliances at curbside for the general public?
A. In general, we do not pick up appliances at curbside for the public. However, there are a few territories where such a service has been requested by the utility and/or city. Currently in Riverside, California the city sponsors a program where ARCA provides such services. Puget Sound Energy in Washington and Austin Energy in Texas are also working with ARCA to provide curbside service. Please visit the respective city and/or utility website for further information. Otherwise, we prefer to focus on energy efficiency programs.
Q. If you do not pick up appliances at curbside in my area, can I drop them off at your recycling center?
A. We do not accept drop-offs.
Q. How can I dispose of my old appliance if it isn’t working or if I don’t live in one of the areas you serve?
A. We suggest you contact your city or county government to find out if they provide an appliance recycling program for residents or offer a citywide cleanup day with appliance collection. You can also check with your waste hauler, who may recycle your appliance for a fee.
Q. What appliances do you recycle?
A. We are capable of recycling all types of major household appliances. However, the majority of programs offered by our clients are usually limited to working refrigerators, freezers and/or air conditioners.
Q. I have a used appliance that no longer works. Will you still take it?
A. Because we provide services for utility-sponsored energy efficiency programs, every appliance that we pick up must be operating (cooling), even if it is not running at full capacity. |
